You only get one shot, do not miss your chance ...

Ok, so it's not that dramatic.  But, the moment was pretty intense.

Yesterday as I walked out of Michael's crafts and put my purchase into the trunk of my car, I noticed the Old Navy store and decided to go inside and look for a sweater vest I'd been hunting down.

As I was walking in, minding my own business, just happy as can be in my little "HollyLand" I began to notice something was amiss.

As I was opening the door and stepping in, I asked myself "what is this? a struggle? a fight? danger?"

Just then I came to realize that there was a rather large man wrestling with a small woman on the floor right in front of me.  Then I see papers and cards, what seemed to be the contents of a wallet or a pocket slide across the floor.

I just stood there.

She screams "get off of me, let me go" and then I wonder is this domestic abuse?  I can't tell what is going on.  Then quickly he tries grabbing for the papers or whatever flew and snatched something from the woman's hand and gets up.  He then pushes her back down and comes running right at me as I stand dumbfounded in the door way.

So what do I do?

In this moment to help and to become a citizens hero, I immediately think quickly and Jump to the right and out of the assailants way.  Wait, that's not just it.  I also yelled ... "ahhh" as I did this maneuver.

Whew.  I was almost run over.

Anyways, the point is, we thing we are brave and tough. But, when it comes to our fight or flight sensory we never know exactly what our reaction would be.

It turns out this man was trying to pass a fake check for purchase at the Old Navy.  The woman he was wrestling with was a worker who took a fall as he forcefully tried to seize the check back from her when she refused to accept it for payment.  The papers that slid across the floor?  Those were his identification and welfare documentation that listed his name, SS and address.

Dumbass.

And, for today, I remain an ordinary jumpy citizen waiting for my moment to do something heroic to come along.
